The House of Hákon
Hákonarætt, the House of Hákon, takes its name from Hákon the Good, whose life stands at the meeting place of faith, leadership, learning, and responsibility.
His example inspires our vision of a fellowship in which independent local kindreds share a common inheritance, support one another, and work together to carry the Old Norse tradition forward.

We unite kindreds in the practice, study, and stewardship of the Old Norse religious tradition, fostering reverence for the Gods, remembrance of the ancestors, respect for the landvættir, and lives shaped by honor, frith, and hospitality.

We strengthen kindreds through shared knowledge, resources, and mutual support, helping local communities grow while building lasting bonds across the wider Hákonarætt household.
Our Shared Tradition
The kindreds of Hákonarætt are united by a shared commitment to the Old Norse religious tradition and to carrying that inheritance faithfully into the present.
We revere the Gods, remember our ancestors, respect the landvættir, and look to the Eddas, sagas, and inherited traditions of the Old Norse world as sources of wisdom and understanding. Through blót, sumbel, seasonal holy tides, study, hospitality, and fellowship, we seek to cultivate lives shaped by honor, frith, responsibility, and wisdom.
Each kindred has its own local character and community life, while remaining part of one household bound by a shared tradition and common purpose.

Hákonarætt brings together local kindreds within a shared religious fellowship. Each kindred serves its own community, develops its own local life, and contributes to a wider household built through shared responsibility, cooperation, and enduring bonds between kindreds.
Founding Kindred
Hákonar Highland Rim Kindred (HHRK)
Hákonar Highland Rim Kindred is the founding kindred of Hákonarætt, serving Middle Tennessee as a local Old Norse religious community. As the first local hearth of Hákonarætt, HHRK helped establish the pattern of local kindred life that the wider Fellowship seeks to support and strengthen.
Chartered Kindreds
Hákonarætt is growing through the formation and affiliation of kindreds across regions. Chartered kindreds remain rooted in their local communities while taking their place within the wider fellowship.
