Hákonarætt Institute of Eddic Studies (HIES)
HIES is the Fellowship's educational ministry, dedicated to structured online study of Eddic literature, Old Norse religion, language, history, leadership, and related religious and cultural traditions.

Close study of the Eddas, sagas, and related sources in their historical, linguistic, and religious context.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
Undergraduate and graduate programs in Eddic Studies, designed for sustained study of the Old Norse religious and literary tradition. Programs are currently in development.

Academic Programs
ASSOCIATE OF EDDIC STUDIES (A.E.S.)
An undergraduate program providing a foundational course of study in Eddic literature, Old Norse religion, history, and related traditions.
BACHELOR OF EDDIC STUDIES (B.E.S.)
An undergraduate program of 120 semester credit hours providing comprehensive study of Eddic literature, Old Norse religion, language, history, leadership, and related fields.
MASTER OF EDDIC STUDIES (M.E.S.)
A graduate religious degree providing advanced study of Eddic tradition, theology, religious leadership, ministry, and related areas.
Programs are in development. Complete curriculum, admissions, academic policies, and program information will be published by HIES.
HIES provides academic study. It is distinct from Gothi formation, and completion of an HIES degree does not confer recognition or authorization as a Gothi.
Open Library
The Institute is committed to making serious study accessible. The HIES Open Library provides public-domain primary sources, historical scholarship, language resources, and source collections supporting the study of the Old Norse tradition.
